Short Rows

Knit to first side of short row.

Turn work.




Wrap yarn around right needle.



Purl the length of the short row (purl to the other side).



Turn work and wrap yarn around right needle.


Knit to first wrap.

Knit the wrap and the next stitch together.





Knit to one stitch before the second wrap.



SSK (slip first stitch knitwise, slip wrap, knit two slipped stitches together)

First Pattern- Braided Cable Scarf




Braided Cable Scarf

Materials:
2 Size 8mm needles (or a 8mm round)
Cable needle
Bulky yarn
Yarn Weight: Bulky, I used almost 5.5 ounces.
Needles Size: 8mm
Abbreviations
K= Knit
P= Purl
C12B = Slip next 6 stitches onto cable needle and hold at back of work, knit next 6 stitches from left needle then knit 6 from cable needle.
C12F = Slip next 6 stitches onto cable needle and hold at front of work, knit next 6 stitches from left needle then knit 6 from cable needle.



Cast on 18 stitches
Rows 1-9: work in stockinette stitch (ending with a purl row)
Row 10: C12B, K6
Rows 11 – 19 : work in stockinette stitch (ending with a purl row)
Row 20: K6, C12F
Repeat Rows 1 – 20 until scarf is desired length then work 8 rows in stockinette stitch and bind off.

Sew in ends to finish.


Note : Scarf in picture is 18 repeats of the pattern and measures approxmately 92” long and 3.5” wide.
